The home tract of this breed is found in Bahawalpur, Multan Muzaffargarh, Layyah districts in Punjab province. Nachi is a punjabi word which means having a dancing gait.
Nachi goats are black in color but sometimes they are black and white spotted. This breed has compact body, short rough hair and Roman nose. They are horned with medium ears. The udder is somewhat developed and the milk yield is 110 liters in 100 day lactation. The main benefit of this breed is hair yield which is very good and it is 600 grams per head per annum. Adult males and females weigh 33 and 28 Kg respectively. Twin births are common in this breed. Nachi Goats are raised for both purposes meat and milk.
