Kamori Goat (Breed of Sindh)

Kamori The Kamori is a milch found in Dadu, Larkana, Hyderabad, and Nawabshah districts of provide Sindh of Pakistan. This breed is medium to large size with reddish brown/white and block spotted. They have small horn bit curly and long ear. They have and long and developed body, and the udder and teats are well developed. Average daily milk production is approximately more than 1 liter upto 1.5 Liters.

Pateri Goat

The Pateri breed is found in the districts of Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Kherpur and Sanghar in Province Sindh of Pakistan.

Body color of the Pateri is white and face, neck and years are reddish brown. The Pateri is also included in one of the heaviest breeds of goats found in Sindh. The ears are long, wide and drooping. The udder is well developed and milk yield is more than 1 liter per day (170 litters/120 day ) lactation. Adult males and females have their weight 52 and 42 KGs respectively. Twin births are common. The goats are raised for meat and milk. Fattened males are always in great demand on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Jattan Goat

This breed is named after the tribes of Jats who used to raise camel in Sindh. Jattan breed is found in the irrigated areas of Mirpur Khas district, bordering the desert of Thar.

The color of the breed is fawn, red or black. The breed is large sized breed with long legs. The ears are medium sized and drooping and are white and splashed with fawn red or black in color. Males have a black color ring around the base of the neck. Both the sex, males are females are both horned. The udder is well developed. Milk yield is fairly good, 225 litters in 130 day lactation. Adult males and females weigh 50 and 42 KG respectively. Jattan are raised for both milk and Meat.

Gulabi Goat

Gulabi Goats are most costly attractive and beautiful breed found in Pakistan. The word Gulabi is urdu name, means the color of pink. The animal is medium sized and is famous for its great beauty. The breed of goat is horned with small horn. Tail is small directing towards head. The ears of the goats are large, drooping and wide.

Teddy Goat

Teddy goat breed is found in the districts, D.I.Khan, Tank, Sargodha, Mianwali, Gujarat, Jhelum and Rawalpindi and the adjoining areas of Azad Kashmir.

Teady goats are found in variable coat color, creamy, white, brown, and black or patched with these colors. They have a compact body small and droopy ears and nose is slightly prominent. This breed is both horned and polled. If horns are there, they are spirals. Bucks may have the beard. Hind quarters are most of the time are muscular. Udder is moderately and average developed with short conical teats. Milk yield is 65 liters per 130 day lactation. Hair of this breed is generally not clipped. Adult males and females have their weight 30 and 23 KG respectively. Twins and triplets occur most common at about 50 and 15 percent respectively. Teddy goats are most of the time raised for meat.

Damani Goat

The Damani is a milk goat found in the Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan districts in NWF Province, Pakistan. They are medium in size with a mature weight of approximately 35 kg. They typically have a black hair coat with tan head, body and legs. The daily average milk production 1.8 liters.Charateristics of the breed include a long hair coat and well developed udders with small teat.

Nachi Goat

The home tract of this breed is found in Bahawalpur, Multan Muzaffargarh, Layyah districts in Punjab province. Nachi is a punjabi word which means having a dancing gait.

Nachi goats are black in color but sometimes they are black and white spotted. This breed has compact body, short rough hair and Roman nose. They are horned with medium ears. The udder is somewhat developed and the milk yield is 110 liters in 100 day lactation. The main benefit of this breed is hair yield which is very good and it is 600 grams per head per annum. Adult males and females weigh 33 and 28 Kg respectively. Twin births are common in this breed. Nachi Goats are raised for both purposes meat and milk.

Dera Din Panah Goat

Dera Din Panah breed is found in Muzaffargarh and Multan districts in Punjab Province. Dera din Panah is a name of town in Muzaffargarh District, from which the name is given to this goat.

These goats are black with a large compact body. This breed of goats have large head with Roman nose, hair on the chin, long broad, drooping ears and hairy body. Cartilaginous appendages are found on the side of the neck of the goats. Goats are horned which are thick and long with two or three spiraled curves. The size of the tale is medium and covered with short rough hair on it. Udder and teats are well developed and milk yield is more than 1 liter per day upto 245 liters in 135 day lactation. Adult males and females have their weight upto 45 and 40 KG respectively. Hair yield of this breed is 1200 grams per head per annum in this breed. Twin births are most common. These goats are raised for milk, meat and hair production.

Beetal Goat

Beetal goats are found in all the irrigated areas of the Punjab, including districts of Sialkot, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Jhang, Multan, Sahiwal and Okara.

Body color is red spotted with white or black patches. The body is well compact and developed. The head is very massive and broad, roman nose, and ears long, broad and pendulous. Males have long spiraled horns and shorter in females. They have long legs and a short tail and curved to head. The udder is well developed and teats are conical and long. Adult males and females have their weight 46 and 37 KG respectively. Milk yield is very promising and famous for milk production upto 290 liter per lactation of 130 days.
